Aimed to recognize the important role of volunteers in the humanitarian field in times of disasters and emergency situations, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) held the Million Volunteer Run (MVR) on Feb. 10, 2013. In time with the month of love, the event highlighted the love and compassion for humanity through the spirit of voluntary service. The main objective of the MVR is to prepare the county by getting more volunteers and train them with disaster response skills, considering the disasters plaguing the country year in and year out. PRC also mobilized its Red Cross 143 volunteers, the flagship volunteer program of the organization that recruits and trains a minimum of 44 volunteers in every barangay composed of one team leader and 43 members.
